He's been know by many names. Prince Rakeem. The Abbot. Bobby Digital. But on Tuesday October 7th the Wu-Tang Clan's headmaster, The RZA, will be performing under his most common moniker, dropping live versions of tracks from his upcoming solo album, Birth of a Prince, which comes out on Sanctuary Records/Wu Records that very same day.

As the founder of the highly influential martial arts influenced nine man collective known as the Wu-Tang Clan, RZA has been instrumental in crafting a distinct sound that literally changed the face of rap when the group dropped their debut platter, Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) back in 1993. Working as the crew's in house producer, as well as an MC, RZA has helped revolutionize the way hip-hop music looks and sounds. His additional forays into the realm of cinematic composition have only furthered his influence.

While RZA has spent the last few years working under the guise of one of his many alter egos (that of Bobby Digital), in 2003 he steps out from behind the boards to deliver Birth of a Prince, the first solo release to bear the RZA moniker. The album has already started to impact the world with its first single entitled "We Pop". Featuring the incomparable O.D.B., it's a prime example of next level Wu-Tang sonic manifestation.

To celebrate the release of his new album, RZA, along with special guests, will be giving a performance, featuring a number of songs off Birth of a Prince, at the Virgin Mega Store in Union Square in New York City on Tuesday October 7th at 4:00 PM.
