Ol' Dirty Bastard Hits Campaign Trail With New Album - 2004-01-24 06:45:44

© The Wu-Tang Corp. - 2004-01-24

Ol' Dirty Bastard has run his mouth off too much at times. He ran from the law a couple of years back and has been accused of running away from child-support payments. Now he wants to run once again - for president of the United States.

Why does he want to throw his name into the ring? Simple, replied Dirty recently: "To get pu---!"

The Wu-Tang Clan co-founder clarified that he was joking about wanting to be commander-in-chief. But if the notion appeals to you, his Dirt McGirt clothing line is releasing a line of T-shirts championing his spoof candidacy.

Dirty will soon hit the road like a man trying to get elected. Touring for the first time since emerging from prison last year, his short outing begins February 9 in New York at the B.B. King Blues Club & Grill and ends February 13 at the Dragonfly Club in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. After completing his February run, Dirty will perform seven or eight dates per month for the rest of the year, his manager said.

The dates will promote a new album, Dirt McGirt, which drops in March. The still-untitled first single features Missy Elliott and Fabolous. Dirty will screen his live DVD in movie theaters across the country the day before the LP drops, and the DVD will hit stores a couple of months later.

Ol' Dirty Bastard tour dates, according to his management:
2/9 - New York, NY @ B.B. King Blues Club & Grill
2/11 - State College, PA @ Crowbar
2/12 - North Hampton, MA @ Pearl Street
2/13 - Harrisburg, PA @ Dragonfly Club
