GZA
continues to gain accolades for his cerebral, thought provoking style of rap, but the lyricist is thinking about extending his brand through the family tree. The founder of the Staten Island, New York collective is in the early stages of grooming his son, Kareem, into a different type of child rapper.
According to GZA, his son is a chip off the old block with a youthful twist. "He's unlike any other shorty out there. He's good," the GZA boasted. He got a good flow, he's swift and just one of a kind." The 11-year-old protegee appears on the cover art of GZA's latest Legend of the Liquid Sword.
He said Kareem, who raps under the moniker
Justice
, is more prone to the intellectual side of childe raps, which will distinguish him from fun-loving youth like
Bow Wow
and
Lil' Romeo
.
"He's definitely [on the intellectual side] but, not like a brainiac, wizard or he's a kid that uses all these big words, it's nothing like that. It's more on the visual side, more descriptive with the lyrics like I am," he explained.
Still, the GZA, also known as The Genius, said he is slow to introduce his son to the hip-hop culture and stressed that the currently unsigned artist has only recorded one song. Still, he maintained that he is writing songs and its simply a matter of putting song to beat.
"Everybody is talking about their son and they got a little brother coming out. I don't really want to speak about it too much untl it happens," he stated. "You will hear from him soon. As far as out there in the public no one has really heard him."
