Cappadonna is readying his forthcoming release, The Struggle, on Remedy's Code:Red label. The project features production from RZA, 4th Disciple, Remedy, RNS, Calogero. It also has appearances by Killah Priest, Inspectah Deck, Streetlife, Remedy, King Just, Solomon Childs and Lounge Mode.
He addresses the struggle to release material that's relevant to our times. "The Struggle is based upon everything; hate, love, famine, disease, the fight and the climb to the top, sometimes you gotta fall and get knocked down in order to get up and be a little stronger. That's what the struggle is about."
Cappadonna also spoke about the premise behind his other summer release entitled Love Is Love, which will drop on Mad Lion's Killah Pride label. "Love is the only true conquerer of hate, The Struggle album is a little aggressive, there was a lot of strong emotion involved in that, I wasn't really pulling no punches, Love is Love touches more on the love of things, it's like after the struggle, there is a rainbow."
There is talks of Inspectah Deck to go on tour with Pharoahe Monch.
Killah Priest will finally release his fourth album in July (8th July to be exact) on Recon/Artemis Records entitled Black August, which will include collaborations with his 4 Horsemen crew consisting Ras Kass, Kurupt and Canibus. Already making noise with his first two singles Robbery and Do The Damn Thing, Killah Priest said, Dancehall artist Elephant Man got Robbery, its about robbing from the rich and giving to the poor, and taking back whats mine in the music industry. Killah Priest also stripped his album back down to the essence of hip-hop, relying strictly on beats and lyrics. He added, its been turned up a notch. I have some real deep vintage stuff on there. He added, its real hip-hop and its taking it back to real concepts like Rewind from Nas. Its bringing it back to the art of hip-hop and my new beginning.
Killah Priest is also opening several shows for Lil' Flip and Snoop Dogg. |
