as he directed and starred in the video for Knock, Knock, the first single off of his Legend of a Liquid Sword, due December 10.
"The concept is just to have fun," GZA explained of the clip. "A night out, Wu-Tang is just doing their thing. Chilling"

"It's totally different. I call it the Legend 'cause it's me; it's the rap legend. The vibe is a different variety of songs. I got a track from RZA,
J. Waxx
. I got a joint from
Bink
called Animal Planet. I mention a lot of animals in the song. I got a track called Luminal produced by
DJ Muggs
of
Cypress Hill
."
GZA is the only member of the Clan to put out an album this year, but Method Man and Ghostface Killah are cooking up solo releases for 2003.
"We are going to step outside the temple for a minute," Method Man said about the The Prequel to his first two solo albums, Tical (1994) and Tical 2000 (1998). The Ticallion Stallion has opted for a change of scenery not only in his music, but also while making it. You can find Meth these days rubbing shoulders with Bad Boys like
P. Diddy
and
Loon
at Daddy's House studio.
"I wanted a change, a different work environment," said Meth, who has been collaborating with the Wu and
Ludacris
on the disc. "Puff may jump on a track."
It sounds like the switch-up has done Meth good. Last year, while promoting his and
Redman
's "How High" movie, the Shaolin soldier said he wouldn't start recording until he was inspired.
"That sounds so burgee right there," he said of his previous comments, laughing. "It was more or less I had a writer's block. I was waiting till my block left. The best thing to stop a block is you got to push through that shit. Perfect your craft. Same way like a martial artist has to practice for years to become a master. Even when he becomes a master he still has to practice to stay sharp."
Wu's iron man, Ghostface Killah, isn't having problems penning his words, especially with a new solo deal for Def Jam. He said he wants to have his album out by March and he's looking to release a song in the next month or so.

"I'm writing right now. I write first, and then record so I am not wasting no studio time. Hip-hop is going through a change right now. The game is mad wack. When a time like this comes, when y'all have no water, we going to bring that water. I'm all about bringing water. Water is life."
[wimg=right]../images/news/02_10_17_knockknock4.jpg[/wimg]RZA, meanwhile, is taking things "back to the basement" as a producer on Tony Stark's album. "Basically static-filled records," he said. "We got some joints. It's going to be that adrenaline rush."
"I worked with Meth," he added. "We worked earlier this year on his album. I did about 10 songs with him. I kept him right there where everybody is at right now, grooving. Meth, he moves, so I kept it groovy."
As if that wasn't enough to keep him busy, RZA also has to find time to make beats and rhymes for the new Wu-Tang album. Wu — currently free agents without a contract — want to put out a record in 2003 to coincide with the 10th anniversary of their classic debut, Enter the Wu-Tang: 36 Chambers.

Ol' Dirty Bastard
is through paying his debt to society, he'll be laying vocals on the project, RZA said. "He's going through his hell right now. He's going to be the only man who went through hell and came back alive. He was supposed to be out, but he's building, keeping his mind focused. They're treating him a little different than the average prisoner."
Just as they stand by O.D.B., GZA insisted that everyone else is united and that rumours of a break-up are false. "We have our little beefs and our little discrepancies, but it never get to the point where it's out of hand. Every family argues and goes through things. We are still here. Wu is still Wu."
